October 3-4 - WishFlight 2008
October 3-4 - WishFlight 2008 Kirsten participated in a WishFlight Bon Voyage party in Dallas, TX and traveled with six Wish kids and their families to Orlando, FL for the 13th annual WishFlight celebration. WishFlight is a trip that allows children with life-threatening medical conditions and their families to travel to Orlando for an all-expense-paid vacation where they experience a week of fun at the Give Kids the World Village and area theme parks. To further commemorate this wonderful journey, Kirsten was on hand at Give Kids the World Village for the new villa dedication ceremony and attended a welcome party for the 31 Wish kids and all the families staying at the village.
September 28 - Kirsten Rocks the Vote!
September 28 - Kirsten Rocks the Vote! Kirsten had the opportunity to work with Rock the Vote Sunday, September 28, and her fellow students at the University of Cincinnati. She was there to support Rock the Vote’s mission to inform students of the importance of making their voices heard by voting in this year’s election. She encouraged students and their friends to register to vote and then stepped in to help them with the process!
September 27 - Manhattan Beach, California
September 27 - Manhattan Beach, California Kirsten and the 2009 Miss America contestants were invited to Manhattan Beach on September 27. Mayor Richard Montgomery was waiting to welcome everyone and presented Kirsten with the key to the city. It was a wonderful evening complete with a picturesque sunset that created a spectacular backdrop for Kirsten and the 2009 contestants. They were welcomed to Manhattan Beach in style and then went to a very posh restaurant for dinner.
September 25 - The Ellen DeGeneres Show
September 25 - The Ellen DeGeneres Show Kirsten and the 2009 Miss America contestants were invited to be a part of the taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday. Ellen interviewed Kirsten on national TV and while the interview was being conducted, the contestants were having some outrageous fun practicing for a skit with Ellen to surprise George Clooney, who has his office bungalow next to the Ellen’s studio. The show aired on Friday, September 26!
September 18-20 Washington D.C. USO Events
September 18-20 Washington D.C. USO Events Kirsten spent last week in Washington, D.C. participating in several events with the USO. She visited Walter Reed Memorial Hospital and even attended a luncheon at the Pentagon for wounded soldiers and their families. The weekend’s festivities commenced with an appearance at a USO Fundraiser where she was part of a group of special celebrity guests including former NFL star, John Riggins; Miss Virginia, Tara Wheeler; MAO Teen Washington D.C., Jasmine Alexis; and TV celebrity from ABC’s The Bachelor Navy Lt. Andy Baldwin.
September 9 - BANA Conference
September 9 - BANA Conference Kirsten served as the keynote speaker at the Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association conference, “The Global Dinner Table: Insights into the World-Wide Epidemic of Eating Disorders” in Ontario, Canada. The goal of the conference was to draw attention and create greater public acceptance of those suffering with eating disorders. Kirsten’s speech was a wonderful opportunity for her to show her commitment to her personal platform of Raising Awareness of Eating Disorders on a global scale!
August 25 - Supermodels Magazine Shoot
August 25 - Supermodels Magazine Shoot Kirsten had a great time in Los Angeles at a photo shoot for Supermodels Magazine. She will be featured in their November issue with some of the most powerful and influential women in business. The feature is highlighting women with power, beauty AND brains.
August 12-16 - Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant
August 12-16 - Miss America Kirsten was in Orlando to celebrate Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Competition where she co-hosted several events and lent her support to the MAOTeen contestants. She also had the opportunity to spend time with the Miss America contestants that were in attendance and to also thank our State Executive Directors for their dedication and their tireless efforts. She attended a fundraiser for the Miss America Organization and did media interviews while in Orlando.
August 7 - Miracle Treat Day
August 7 - Miracle Treat Day As the honorary spokesperson, Kirsten rolled up her sleeves in Chicago and made Blizzards® for the third annual Dairy Queen® Miracle Treat Day. Dairy Queen® donated proceeds from every Blizzard® sold that day to Children’s Miracle Network. Kirsten also had time to meet with the children at Children’s Memorial Hospital while she was promoting Blizzard Day in the windy city.

July 18, 2008 - New York City While Kirsten was in New York to attend the America the Beautiful premiere, she stopped by CW 11 News with the director of the film, Daryl Roberts, for a quick interview where she had the opportunity to meet the legendary singer Chubby Checker! This stop was one of the many that Kirsten did that day on her media tour to promote the film and meeting Chubby on the tour was a thrill.

July 17- America The Beautiful Kirsten was in New York for the screening of the new documentary, America The Beautiful with producer, Darryl Roberts. This documentary explores America’s obsession with image and the film features interviews with Jessica Simpson, Anthony Kiedis, Eve Ensler and other celebrities. Kirsten is working with ANAD, the first national organization dedicated to the alleviation and prevention of eating disorders, in an effort to support her personal platform of bringing awareness to eating disorders through events like this one held in New York.
July 7 - 10 US Tournament of Dance
July 7 - 10  US Tournament of Dance Kirsten was in Atlantic City, New Jersey to be a part of the annual US Dance Tournament event. Kirsten had a wonderful time meeting with children all of ages who were from around the country and arrived in town for the national dance competition. She signed autographs, performed songs and topped off the event with a memorable awards presentations on Thursday evening.
June 29 - San Diego ZEROSMOKE
June 29 - San Diego ZEROSMOKE Kirsten flew to San Diego to kick off the sponsorship with ZEROSMOKE. Kirsten will now serve as the official spokesperson for ZEROSMOKE and she will encourage people to stop smoking, kick the habit and live a healthier lifestyle as she travels across the country spreading her message.
June 21 - 2008 Miss Michigan Pageant
June 21 -  2008 Miss Michigan Pageant Kirsten Haglund was in her home state on June 21 to host the final night of the 2008 Miss Michigan Pageant. Ashlee Baracy, of Westland, was crowned by 2007 Miss Michigan Gina Valo. Ashlee will be representing Michigan in the 2009 Miss America Pageant to be held on Saturday, January 24th live from Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
June 13 - Montana Welcomes Miss America!
June 13 - Montana Welcomes Miss America! Kirsten is welcomed to the great state of Montana for the 2008 Miss Montana Pageant. The Mayor proclaimed it "Kirsten Haglund Day," and presented her with the key to the City. It happened to be Friday the 13th, and popular entertainer Rick Loos was on hand with his horse-drawn chuck wagon to greet Kirsten. Their celebration included Kirsten in a parade riding in a convertible Corvette, followed by an ice cream social.

June 9 - National Association of Broadcasters Fun with the FCC; during the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation’s annual awards dinner on Monday night, FCC Commissioner Michael Copps expressed disappointment that he didn’t get to share the stage with Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund. Kirsten did however, share the stage with the biggest star and music icon Quincy Jones, who received the NABEF Leadership Award for his efforts to help underprivileged children and others in need.

June 6 - Annual United States Army Ball Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund was the guest of honor at the annual United States Army Ball. Kirsten was in Los Angeles, California to help celebrate the service of these extraordinary individuals and she also performed during the black tie gala event. Kirsten also had the opportunity to visit the veterans hospital prior to the event and thank our proud soldiers personally for all that they have given.

May 26 - Memorial Day Celebration On Monday, May 26th, in Washington DC, Kirsten celebrated Memorial Day by being a part for this annual parade, America the Beautiful! Kirsten performed to the crowds that paved the street and paid tribute to those whose have served our nation so proudly.

May 22 - The Duke of Edinburgh Awards Kirsten met with Duke of Edinburgh Awards recipients at Governor's Mansion reception in Mississippi on May 23rd following her appearance with HRH Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh on FOX & Friends that aired live on Friday morning.
May 9 - Cleveland Fashion Week
May 9 - Cleveland Fashion Week Kirsten Haglund visited Ohio for Cleveland's Fashion Week. While in Cleveland she visited the Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital at University of Cleveland on Friday, May 9, and decorated crowns with the kids! She also got the opportunity to visit the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and sang at the Fashion Week Gala.

May 7 - Tulip Time Festival Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund was the special guest speaker during the Tulip Time Festival Luncheon held at the Dow Center . Kirsten performed special songs for the crowd and participated in the parade. She served as the Grand Marshal of this annual event and was thrilled to be back in her home state again.

May 4 - City of Southfield 50th Anniversary Celebration On May 4th Miss America attended the City of Southfield 50th Anniversary Community Celebration in Michigan. Mayor Brenda L. Lawrence welcomed Kirsten to the Celebration where she entertained the audience singing "Over the Rainbow" and signed autographs at this family event.
May 3 - Linden Oaks at Edwards Mental Health Fair
May 3 -  Linden Oaks at Edwards Mental Health Fair Miss America attended the Linden Oaks at Edwards “Happy Hearts, Healthy Minds” Mental Health Fair on May 3rd in support of her personal platform, "Raising Awareness for Eating Disorders". Whlie she was there she made two new furry friends from Linden Oak’s Animal Assisted Therapy Program.
April 29 - Philadelphia Phillies Game
April 29 - Philadelphia Phillies Game Kirsten Haglund sang the National Anthem at the Philadelphia Phillies Game on Tuesday, April 29th. This was the second Major League Baseball appearance that Kirsten has attended this season.

April 28 - Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Game On April 28th, Kirsten Haglund was in Philadelphia to sing the National Anthem at the Philadelphia Soul game. After the game she posed for a picture with Tony Graziani, the Quarter Back for the Soul. Kirsten enjoyed the game and is a huge football fan!

April 26 - Washington Correspondents Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund attended the prestigious Washington Correspondents' Dinner at the Washington Hilton on Saturday, April 26. She was a part of the red carpet celebrity event that included stars such as Marcia Cross, Ashlee Simpson, Salmon Rushdie and watched Craig Ferguson host the event with President Bush!

April 23 - Celebration of the Century Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund Joined the US Army Reserves for The Celebration of the Century as they marked 100 years of service to our nation! Kirsten attended the re-enlistment ceremony and the black tie gala that evening to celebrate the very special anniversary.

April 12- Cherry Blossom Festival Parade Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund took part in the 2008 Parade of the National Cherry Blossom Festival and sang "Over the Rainbow" on a float as it traveled along Constitution Avenue, passing the Washington Monument and The White House.
April 9-10 - Eating Disorders Coalition
April 9-10 - Eating Disorders Coalition Kirsten joined over 100 citizens to participate in the EDC’s Lobby Day on Capitol Hill to deliver a message for the need for legislation for Eating Disorders and the FREED Act was introduced.
April 6 - Honda Grand Prix
April 6 - Honda Grand Prix “Lady and Gentlemen start your engines” is the command that Kirsten Haglund gave for the start of one of the most thrilling events in sports racing that was televised nationally on ESPN. Kirsten served as the Grand Marshal for the 2008 Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Florida.
April 3 - iaedp Symposium
April 3 - iaedp Symposium Kirsten spoke to over 400 clinicians and professionals at the iaedp Awards Banquet and Opening General Session about her experience and recovery from anorexia. The Symposium offered high level training to professionals who work with patients suffering from eating disorders.
March 31 - Detroit Tigers Home Opener
March 31 - Detroit Tigers Home Opener Kirsten Haglund threw out the ceremonial pitch at the MLB home opener for the Detroit Tigers in front of a sold out crowd. Kirsten then performed the National Anthem and during the 7th inning stretch, sang “God Bless America” to celebrate Opening Day at Comerica Park.

March 17-18- Champions Across America On Monday, Kirsten and the CMN Miracle Kids traveled to the White House to have a very special meeting with the President of the United States, George W. Bush. It was an extraordinary event and the media was present to capture the moment.
March 12-15- Children's Miracle Network Celebration
March 12-15- Children The celebration for Children's Miracle Network began in Orlando marking the 25th anniversary of the organization. This annual celebration kicked off with Miss America meeting children from across the country who are champions in fighting life threatening illnesses and who have faced the most challenging health issues and have emerged as our heroes.
March 11 – Harris Center for Education and Advocacy of Eating Disorders
March 11 – Harris Center for Education and Advocacy of Eating Disorders Kirsten spoke at the Harris Center, located in Boston, at their annual public forum entitled, “Redefining Perfection: Beauty, Fashion and Body Image.” She also received a tour of Massachusetts General Hospital and conducted interviews and several local newspapers and television stations.
March 8 – Voices Take Flight
March 8 – Voices Take Flight Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund co-hosted the Voices Take Flight fundraiser in Phoenix, Arizona, benefitting Alzheimer’s and ALS foundations. The Phoenix Boys Choir and the US Coast Guard Choir from New Groton, CT both performed.
March 6 – Opening Night “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”
March 6 – Opening Night “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” Kirsten had the wonderful opportunity to attend the opening night of the Broadway production, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” The show is being directed by former Miss America Judge, Debbie Allen and stars, Phylicia Rashad, James Earl Jones and Terrence Howard, among others. Besides the watching the performance, Kirsten walked the red carpet and attended the exclusive after-party.
March 5 – DeVos Children’s Hospital
March 5 – DeVos Children’s Hospital Kirsten visited the DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. She met with patients, shared her story and signed autographs. Kirsten was thrilled to be visiting the hospital for the first time as the Goodwill Ambassador for CMN.
March 3 – Thunder 94.5 Radio Show
March 3 –  Thunder 94.5 Radio Show While in Michigan, Kirsten stopped by Thunder 94.5 and co-hosted an hour of the “Scrubs in the Morning” show. Kirsten is a lover of all types of music, and was thrilled to be able to spend the hour talking about becoming Miss America, her personal platform and her travels.

March 2 – HOPE Kirsten filmed a special message for Miracle Camp, a camp in Lawton, MI where over 150 teens will gather for a weekend retreat. Kirsten’s message to the teens, and to teens across the country, is that inner beauty is the true beauty and to always have a positive self-image.

February 29-March 1 - HOMECOMING Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund was welcomed home with a Michigan Homecoming like no other. Kirsten arrived to the celebration via horse-drawn carriage. About 800 family, friends and fans turned out to see Kirsten and several other 2008 Miss America Contestants perform. Along with singing ‘Over the Rainbow,’ Kirsten also had the opportunity to perform with both her father and brother.
February 27 – National Press Club “NEWSMAKER” Media Briefing
February 27 – National Press Club “NEWSMAKER” Media Briefing On Wednesday, February 27, Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund led a “NEWSMAKER” media briefing hosted by the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Kirsten discussed her personal platform of raising awareness of eating disorders, improving medical care for young people affected with an eating disorder, and how she plans on using her year of service to promote good health and nutrition. Kirsten also discussed becoming Miss America 2008 and her road from Farmington Hills, Michigan to the Miss America stage at the Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
February 26-27 – USO National Guard Youth Challenge
February 26-27 – USO National Guard Youth Challenge Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund was in DC for the USO National Guard Youth Champion Gala Dinner and the Challenge Program Appreciation Luncheon. Kirsten participated in the USO Handshake Tour of Walter Reed Medical Center, participated in the live auction at the Gala Dinner, and sang the National Anthem at the awards luncheon.

February 25 – DC Luncheon On Monday, February 25, Kirsten attended a special luncheon in DC with MAO board members Tammy Haddad and Phyllis George as well as MAO’s official jeweler Ann Hand. The luncheon was held at The Palm restaurant in DC and was covered by The Washington Post and FishbowlDC.
February 18-22 – New York Media and Wardrobe
February 18-22 – New York Media and Wardrobe Kirsten spent the week in New York City conducting various media interviews and attending wardrobe fittings. Generous sponsors Donnybrook, ABS, Alberto Makali, and Kasper provided Kirsten with gorgeous coats, suits, evening gowns and cocktail dresses to be worn throughout the year. Media interviews included BetterTV, the Glenn Beck Show and Pilates Style Magazine. Kirsten also had the unique opportunity to ring the closing bell at NASDAQ.
February 10-12 – National Pancake Day
February 10-12 – National Pancake Day Kirsten was in Los Angeles to promote IHOP’s National Pancake Day, which took place on February 12. The event is a fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network and raised over $875,000 for the 170 children’s hospitals throughout the country. In conjunction with the fundraiser, Kirsten conducted a satellite media tour and was featured on EXTRA.
February 8 – Trip to Los Angeles
February 8 – Trip to Los Angeles Kirsten made her first trip to Los Angeles as Miss America. She attended a production of Wicked where she met members of the cast and had dinner with MAO’s Chairman of the Board, Sam Haskell.
February 4 – Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
February 4 – Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Kirsten had her first visit to a Children’s Miracle Network hospital as Miss America. After meeting the patients she said, "My very first visit to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was everything I thought it would be and so much more. These children have inspired me with their joy and their spirit and that's an incredible gift. I can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings."
February 1-3 – Philadelphia Auto Show
February 1-3 – Philadelphia Auto Show Kirsten made her first corporate appearance as Miss America for Kerbeck at the Philadelphia Auto Show. Kirsten attended the Black Tie Tailgate Auto Show Preview Gala the evening before the show officially opened. Proceeds from the Black Tie Gala benefit the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a CMN hospital. The next two days, Kirsten attended the Auto Show where she signed autographs, posed for photos and met with fans.
January 28-31 – NYC Media Tour
January 28-31 – NYC Media Tour After being crowned Miss America 2008, Kirsten traveled to New York City for her national media tour. On Monday, she appeared on Live! with Regis and Kelly, ABC News Now, Inside Edition and The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch. The rest of week’s appearances included FOX and Friends, FOX’s After the Show Show, Happy Hour on the FOX Business Channel, and The Morning Joe. Besides television interviews, Kirsten participated in many radio, newspaper and magazine interviews – including People!
